The short story: With the game tied 42-42 and 8:42 remaining, VCU used stifling defense to go on a 14-5 run and pull away for the win.

- The win marked Beth O'Boyle's 100th win at the helm of the program. She's currently second all-time at VCU in coaching wins.
- Sydnei Archie recorded her second career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
- Tera Reed scored a game-high 22 points along with six rebounds. She went 10-of-11 at the free throw line.
- Danielle Hammond had eight points, nine rebounds and four blocks.
- Taya Robisnon added eight points and six rebounds.
- VCU held St. Bonaventure to just 3-of-21 shooting (14 percent) from 3-point range and 35 percent from the floor overall. The Rams shot 33 percent but outrebounded the Bonnies 44-31.
- St. Bonaventure was led by Asianae Johnson who had 17 points and four rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- VCU and St. Bonaventure were tied 4-4 with 6:26 left in the first quarter before the Bonnies outscored the Rams 17-9 and led 21-13 heading into the second.
- The Bonnies led by as much as 28-18 midway through the second quarter before an 11-0 run by the Rams gave VCU a 29-28 lead at halftime.
- The two teams went back-and-forth in the third quarter that saw the Bonnies lead by no more than four points and the team's headed to the final 10 minutes tied 40-40.
- After trading baskets to start the fourth quarter, Reed and Hammond scored the next six points for VCU and gave the Rams the lead for good.
- The Rams went 5-of-6 at the free throw line to close the game with the win.
