RAMS COLLECT FIFTH CONSECUTIVE VICTORY AT JMU

The Short Story: After clinching the doubles point, VCU excelled in their respective singles matches in route to their fifth consecutive victory.

OPENING SERVE

  • Inigo Torre Martin and Rayane Stable improved to 5-1 as a pair after cruising by Gonzalo Adis and William Karpinski 6-1.
  • Charles Bertimon and Lleyton Cronje battled with Alvaro Arce and Josh Raymundo with the doubles point on the line. VCU was leading 5-3 at the conclusion of the other two matches and the Dukes made it 5-4. Bertimon and Cronje managed to hold off a Dukes comeback by winning 6-4, clinching the early lead for the Rams.
  • Charles Bertimon and Lleyton Cronje both extended their winning streaks to five games. Bertimon improved to 6-1 on the season after defeating Alvaro Arce in No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-3. In his first No. 2 singles competition, Lleyton Cronje ousted Stefan Petrovic 7-5, 6-3, improving to 5-1 on the year.
  • Sophomore Rayane Stable picked up his second consecutive win after dominating Damon Roberts 6-2, 6-1.
