The short story: Senior Jaelyn Jackson (South Chesterfield, Va.) supplied seven kills and nine blocks as VCU cruised past Radford Saturday morning at the Carolina Classic.

OPENING VOLLEY

• Jackson, a middle blocker, hit .417 on 12 swings for an efficient Black & Gold offense
• Senior middle Jasmin Sneed (San Antonio, Texas) recorded six kills in nine attempts, as well as seven blocks for VCU
• Senior outside hitter Vicky Giommarini (Rome, Italy) added seven kills for the Rams. Giommarini hit .778 and did not record a hitting error
• Senior opposite Gina Tuzzolo (Newport News, Va.) also provided nine blocks for defensive-minded VCU
• Hailey Flowers and Esmadar Tavares were credited with seven kills each for Radford
