The short story: Senior middle blocker Tori Baldwin became VCU's career leader in total blocks, but Virginia Tech topped the Rams Tuesday night in Blacksburg.

• Baldwin finished with four blocks and five kills on the evening. She entered Tuesday's match needing two blocks to surpass Kelsie Clegg (434) atop VCU's all-time list
• Junior outside hitter Vicky Giommarini led the Rams with 15 kills and nine digs, while hitting .357
• Junior opposite Gina Tuzzolo added 10 kills, while classmate Madalon Simpson was credited with 16 digs
• Jaila Tolbert hit .625 with 10 kills and four blocks for Virginia Tech

THE DIFFERENCE

• Virginia Tech hit .301 in the match, including .333 in the second set
• Meanwhile, the VCU offense never got on track. The Rams hit .118 in the match, including .037 in the first set as the Hokies jumped out in front with a 25-16 win. VCU was plagued by 24 hitting errors in the match
• Virginia Tech owned an 8-7 advantage in blocks

• Baldwin has piled up 437 blocks in three-plus seasons as a Ram, including 171 last year on her way to an AVCA All-Region honor
• The career blocks mark might not be Baldwin's for long. Teammate Jasmin Sneed, a junior, has recorded 388 blocks so far in her career
