The short story: Junior Philip Mobius earned a win at No. 4 singles, but VCU dropped at 6-1 decision at Virginia Tech on Sunday afternoon.

OPENING SERVE

  • Junior Arvid Noren and freshman Inigo Torre Martin were leading 5-4 at No. 2 doubles, but their match went unfinished when Virginia Tech clinched the doubles point with victories on courts 1 and 3.
  • Mobius cut the Hokie lead to 3-1 by defeating Henrik Korsgaard 6-2, 7-5.
  • Virginia Tech clinched the match with #42 Mitch Harper's 6-3, 7-6 win over Noren at No. 1 singles.
  • Sophomore Ignacio Rivero Crespo won the second set against Freddy Mesmer at No. 6 singles, but fell in a third-set tiebreaker.
