The short story: VCU men's tennis delivered a quick win over an in-state opponent for the second time this week, besting George Mason 4-0 on Friday afternoon.
OPENING SERVE
- Wins at the top of the lineup secured the doubles point for the Rams. Junior Arvid Noren and freshman Inigo Torre Martin started the day by defeating Jakob Nielsen and Edward Ayers 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. Junior Vitor Lima and sophomore Javier Amantegui clinched the point with a 6-3 win over Pally Ray and Daniel Gutierrez at No. 1 doubles.
- Lima continued a dominant day in singles play, dispatching Ayers 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 position.
- Sophomore Ignacio Rivero Crespo won his fourth singles match in a row, defeating Carter Bradford 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
- Amantegui closed out the match for VCU with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Gutierrez at No. 2 singles.
