The short story: Junior Arvid Noren was a part of the clinching points in both doubles and singles play as VCU men's tennis defeated in-state rival William & Mary 4-1.
OPENING SERVE
- Juniors Vitor Lima and Javier Amantegui started the day with a 6-2 victory over Alec Miller and Tristan Bautil at No. 1 doubles. Noren and freshman Inigo Torre Martin then clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Brenden Volk and Michael Chen.
- Torre Martin pushed the VCU lead to 2-0 as he beat Finbar Talcott at No. 4 singles by a score of 6-4, 6-2. The Bilbao, Spain product leads the Rams with a 16-5 season record, and has yet to drop a set when playing at the No. 4 position.
- Amantegui battled his way to a straight-set win over Louis Newman at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 7-5, to extend the VCU lead to 3-0
- Noren clinched the match for the Rams by smashing a winner down the line for a 7-6, 6-3 win over Christian Cargill at No. 1 singles.
