- VCU responded with a 6-0 run of its own to end the quarter trailing 14-10.
- The two teams played an even second quarter until Fordham built a 27-20 lead with 2:20 left before halftime. VCU got a 3-pointer from Sydnei Archie and a jumper by Robinson as it cut Fordham's lead to 28-27 with 54 seconds left.
- Fordham hit a 3-pointer on its last possession of the half to take a 31-27 lead into the break.
- Fordham opened a 50-39 lead at the end of the third quarter before VCU made a run midway through the fourth.
