The Short Story: It took only five minutes into the match for the VCU Rams to put the game away for good, as the duo of Tori Buress and Julia Suarez combined for a goal and two assists apiece in the Black and Gold's 5-1 triumph over the American University Eagles. Maddi Santo also added two goals in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- VCU did not waste any time getting on the board in the first half. Burress would knock home her first goal of the season off a one-timer on a pass from Suarez inside the 18-yard box just 1:30 into the game, putting the Black and Gold up 1-0 early.
- The duo of Burress and Suarez would trade places just three minutes later, as Suarez would score her second goal of the season as assisted by Burress, as she sent a through ball into the box for Suarez to send home.
- The Rams would add one more first half goal 20 minutes later in the 24th minute, as Buress would grab another assist as she helped out Maddi Santo grab a goal, putting the Rams up 3-0.
- American would get one back in the start of the second half, as Yari Bradfield would score in the 47th minute to cut the lead to 3-1.
- Santo had other thoughts about a two-goal lead, as thanks to Susanna Friedrichs, snagged her second goal of the game from the 6-yard box. That would extend the score to 4-1 in favor of the Black and Gold.
- The final score of the day would come in the 67th minute, as Kelly Graves would join the scoring off a solid one-timer pass from Suarez. Graves was standing far post, and headed it in to push the score to 5-1, where it would stay though the remaining 90th minute.
