The short story: Victor Lima and Michal Voscek earned wins on both the singles and doubles courts and VCU stormed to an early lead Wednesday in a win over Belmont in Nashville.
FIRST SERVE
- VCU sewed up the match early, grabbing the doubles point, followed by singles wins from Voscek, Louis Ishizaka and Arvid Noren to take a 4-0 advantage and clinch the victory.
- Voscek won for the 12th time in 15 tries this spring. The senior from Bratislava, Slovakia cruised past Cedric Dujacquier, 6-2, 6-2 on the No. 1 court. Voscek has now won 74 singles matches in his VCU career. He also teamed with Catalin Fifea for a win at No. 3 doubles.
- Lima also celebrated a pair of wins Wednesday. The freshman from Sao Paulo, Brazil outlasted Adam Rudowski, 5-7, 7-5, 10-6 at the No. 3 position. He paired with Daryl Monfils to clinch the doubles point with a 7-6 (7-5) triumph over Robin Demasse and Cedric Dujacquier.
