The Short Story: Ashley Pegram led VCU with 11 points and three steals, but George Mason held off the Rams 70-54 Wednesday night in Fairfax.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Patriots led wire-to-wire after taking an early 15-10 lead after the first quarter.
  • Down 11 at the after two quarters of play, the Rams were able to cut the Mason lead down to six in the second half.
  • Despite cutting into the Patriot advantage, VCU was unable to erase the deficit as Mason pulled away late to take the 30-29 series lead.

  • The Rams have continued to forced double-digit turnovers and are among the top teams in the A10 in turnovers forced, turnover margin, and steals.
