• The Short Story: Facing off against the 10th-ranked team in the country, the VCU women's soccer team battled, but fell on Sunday night, 3-0 to Virginia Tech.

• Both teams had chances early with senior Kailyn Slade getting loose along the end line and speeding past Virginia Tech defenders, but her shot went just wide.
• The two teams would battle for momentum for the first 35 minutes before the Hokies got on the board in the 37^th minute when Alani Johnson found the back of the net.
• Less than a minute later, Johnson struck again to quickly make it 2-0 in favor of Virginia Tech.
• The Hokies pushed their lead to 3-0 in the 66^th minute off a goal from Laila Gray.
• Slade would try and create some magic in the 71^st minute, speeding down the left sideline, but her cross into the box was knocked away to keep VCU off the board.
• VCU would lock down defensively and keep the Hokies off the board the rest of the night, but would ultimately fall, 3-0.

• The Rams hit the road for the first time in 2015 next weekend, beginning with a Friday night showdown at Drexel. Game time in Philadelphia is set for 7 p.m.
