Rams fall at Duquesne, 83-47

  • Short Story: Despite a hot start, the VCU Women's Basketball team fell at Duquesne on Saturday afternoon, 83-47. Isis Thorpe led the Rams with 11 points while Adaeze Alaeze chipped in nine and 13 rebounds. 

How It Happened

  • VCU jumped out to a 7-0 lead before a 3-pointer from Belma Nurkic silenced the run and put the Dukes on the board.
  • Duquesne took their first lead when Deva'Nyar Workman connected a shot from long range, 19-18, which sparked a 10-0 run putting the Dukes ahead 26-18.
  • The Dukes closed out the half on an 8-0 run to hold a 39-25 advantage at the break.
  • The Rams opened the second half on a 5-2 run, but Duquesne wouldn't relinquish their lead. The Dukes went on a long stretch allowing just nine points over nearly ten minutes to secure a 83-47 win.
