OPENING VOLLEY
  • Senior Kalah Jones blasted 16 kills and sophomore Jane Feddersen served up six aces as VCU routed Davidson Saturday at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
  • The Rams hit .276 in the match, while Davidson recorded a .000 mark for the night. VCU never trailed in the first and third sets.
  • The Black and Gold has won three straight matches.
  • VCU registered 10 blocks on the night. Freshman middle blocker Tori Baldwin led the way up front with six blocks. Jones added five, and Feddersen contributed four blocks.
  • Freshman Sahbria McLetchie kicked in nine kills and hit .333 to help spur the VCU effort, while classmate Julia Adler provided six kills of her own.
  • Sabrina Shepherd paced Davidson with six kills.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • VCU has recorded double-digit blocks in three straight matches, and Saturday marked the third time the Rams have topped double digits in a 3-set match this year.
  • The Rams streaked ahead early and never looked back. VCU jumped to a 19-5 lead in the opening set.
  • In her last two matches, Jones is averaging 6.14 kills per set, while hitting .323.  She now has 1,030 career kills and trails Cindy O'Brien by 15 for fifth in school history.

  • The Rams will head out for a two-match road swing to Duquesne (Nov. 6) and La Salle (Nov. 8).
