Opening Volley
  • Senior Kalah Jones had 15 kills, but it wasn't enough as the VCU volleyball team dropped a 3-1 road decision to Atlantic 10 power Dayton on Sunday afternoon.
  • Redshirt freshman Indigo Thompson racked up 38 assists in the match.
  • Sophomore Jane Feddersen tallied 11 kills, reaching double-digit kills for the fifth time in the past six matches.
Key Moments
  • Dayton jumped out to a 21-17 lead in the first set, however, the Rams closed out the set winning eight of the final 10 points with Jones and Feddersen leading the way to close out the 25-23 first set win for the VCU.
  • The Flyers responded by winning 10 of the first 12 points in the second set en route to a 25-11 win and even the match at 1-1.
  • After the break, Dayton kept momentum on their side, jumping out to a 19-9 lead in the third set and eventually take a 2-1 overall lead by taking the third set, 25-14.
  • Jones would try and help the Rams rally, with three early kills in the fourth set and gave the Rams a 9-7 lead, but Dayton would respond and claim the set, 25-16, to seal the 3-1 match win.
