  • Short Story: The VCU Women's Basketball team fell to Dayton, 75-56 on Saturday, snapping their 12-game home court win streak. Camille Calhoun led the team with 12 points and eight rebounds.

How It Happened

  • Despite VCU getting on the board first, Dayton took a lead behind a pair of free throws two minutes into the game and proceeded to go on a 7-0 run to take a 7-2 lead. 
  • Behind shots from Ashley Pegram and Camille Calhoun, the Rams tied the game at 17-17 with 7:45 left in the first half. The Flyers responded with a 10-0 run to regain the lead.
  • With two minutes remaining in the half, the Rams went on a 7-4 run, but the Flyers were able to hold the 34-26 advantage at the break.
  • A 3-pointer from Isis Thorpe opened the second half as the Rams battled in the second half, getting within seven, 46-39. However, Dayton continued to pull away to maintain its lead and secure the win, 75-56.

Beyond the Box Score

  • This was the fourth-ever meeting between the two schools, with today's game a rematch of last year's Atlantic 10 Quarterfinals.
  • Calhoun scored eight of her 12 points in the second half.
  • With two blocks today, Melanie Royster now has 77 career blocks. She is currently tied for sixth place all-time.
  • VCU's owned a 12-game home court win streak, prior to today's contest.

  • VCU will continue its homestand with a midweek tilt versus George Mason on Wednesday. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
