  • The Short Story: An early goal by 24th-ranked JMU proved to be enough as the VCU women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 road decision. Redshirt junior Emma Kruse registered 11 saves on the night.
How It Happened
  • JMU got on the board early when Sam Lofton took an assist from Allie Bunner and deposited into the back of the net just over four minutes in to grab a 1-0 lead.
  • Just under two minutes later, senior Alex Gogolin nearly tied things up, but the Dukes keeper was able to knock it away.
  • Kruse helped the Rams stay within striking distance, tallying six first half saves as the game headed to the break with JMU leading 1-0.
  • Abby Ritter and Maren Johansen both tested the JMU keeper in the second half, but were turned away as the Dukes held on for the 1-0 victory.
