Box Score

The Basics

  • Score: VCU 3, La Salle 3
  • Records: VCU (5-4-3), LS (6-4-2)
  • The Short Story: VCU saw its five-game unbeaten streak come to an end on Sunday at La Salle, with the Explorers coming away with a 3-1 victory.

How it Happened:

  • La Salle didn't wait long to get on the scoreboard. Kelsey Haycook scored the first goal of the day just 38 seconds after the game got underway, placing it in the upper right corner to give La Salle a 1-0 lead.
  • Haycook again found the back of the net in the 18th minute, extending VCU's deficit to 2-0 and recording her 10th goal of the season, putting her in a tie atop the Atlantic 10 individual scoring leaderboard.
  • The Explorers added one more for good measure, this one coming in the 80th minute off the foot of Anna Dolhansky to make the score 3-0.
  • VCU did get on the board late in the game thanks to freshman Megan Dell, who scored the first goal of her collegiate career in the 82nd minute. Her goal made the score 3-1, which would hold as the final score. Senior Maren Johansen was credited with an assist.
