VCU Defeats Saint Louis, 1-0

Box Score

The Basics

  • Score: VCU 1, Saint Louis 0
  • Records: VCU (9-4-4), SLU (8-9-0)
  • The Short Story: The Rams beat the Saint Louis Billiken on the road 1-0 to hold on to second place in the Atlantic 10.

How it Happened:

  • Junior Kailyn Slade scored the only goal of the game and her first goal of the season to put the Rams up 1-0 in the 25th minute. Slade took a pass in stride from senior Maren Johansen and found the back of the net to give her team the lead.
  • This win marked five consecutive clean sheets for the Ram defense and goalkeeper Emma Kruse, and gave them an even 10 on the season.
  • VCU really put the pressure on Saint Louis, registering 14 shots to the Billikens' six; SLU, however, put more shots on goal, with five compared to VCU's three.

Up Next:

  • VCU will conclude its regular season schedule with a trip to play the Dayton Flyers this Sunday, November 2 at 1 pm. Currently, the Rams are second in the Atlantic 10 and Dayton is third, making this an important game when it comes to seeding in the A10 tournament. Whichever team wins Sunday's game will clinch second place in the conference tournament
