VCU Beats George Washington on Senior Night, 1-0

The Basics

  • The Short Story: On Senior Night, the Rams took down the Colonials 1-0 behind senior Jackie Ernest's second goal of the season.


How it Happened:

  • Ernest's goal came in the 23rd minute of the match; fellow seniors Brianne Moore and Alex Gogolin used some skillful passes to find heir teammate just a few yards in front of the goal. Ernest then expertly placed her shot in the upper right corner of the net well out of the goalie's reach.
  • VCU was able to apply constant pressure  the entire night, outshooting George Washington 18-6 and registering 11 corner kicks to GW's one.
  • Junior goalkeeper Emma Kruse's clean sheet streak remains intact for another game. That makes four consecutive shutouts and nine on the year.
  • The Rams closed out their home schedule with a record of 6-1-2, which ended on an eight game unbeaten streak.


Up Next:

  • The Rams now have two games remaining in the regular season. They will travel to Saint Louis to play the Billikens on Friday, October 31 for a Halloween night matchup. VCU will then close out the regular season at Dayton on Sunday, November 2.
