Box Score The Basics
• Score: VCU 1, Davidson 0
• Records: VCU (7-4-4), DAV (4-11-1)
• The Short Story: One goal was enough for the Rams to take home a victory against Davidson,
1-0. VCU has avoided a loss in eight of its last nine games, allowing just one goal in those eight
contests.
How it Happened:
• Senior Maren Johansen scored the first goal of the game in the 20th
season. Senior forward Alex Gogolin threaded a pass through the defense and found Johansen
right in front of the box, setting her up for an easy goal.
• VCU outshot Davidson 15-6, including 10-3 in the second half. The Rams also recorded eight
corner kicks to the Wildcat's one, applying constant pressure throughout the match.
• Junior goalkeeper Emma Kruse's third consecutive clean sheet, the fourth in her last five games
and number eight on the season.
Up Next:
• Saturday, October 25 will be the last home game for VCU this season; they will face George
Washington at 7 pm. Following that game the Rams will hit the road for their final two matches
of the year, including a tilt with Saint Louis on October 31 and an afternoon game in Dayton on
November 2.
