WALTERS TOP-10 FINISH LEADS RAMS AT LOU ONESTY OPEN
RICHMOND, Va. – Junior Nicole
Walters (Orange, Va.) started to emerge as a real
threat in the Colonial Athletic Association last year and if the
2010 season opener is any indication, she's even more on her way
this year.
Walters earned a top-10 finish with a time of 19:34.42 over the five-kilometer course to lead the Virginia Commonwealth University women's cross country to a second-place overall finish at the Lou Onesty Open, hosted by the University of Virginia.
Senior Hayley Sullivan (Burke, Va.) and sophomore Hannah Leffew (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished in the top-15 with times of 19:49.01 (13th overall) and 19:55.49 (14th overall), respectively.
The freshman duo of Hailey Scheren (Washington, D.C.) and Caitlin Hoffman (Nokesville, Va.) wrapped up the scoring for the Black & Gold with top-20 finishes.
VCU is back in action in two weeks when it hits the course at the Hagan Stone Park Invitational in Greensboro, N.C.
