RICHMOND, Va. – Junoir opposite Gina Tuzzolo (Newport News, Va.) has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Tuzzolo received the award on the heels of her 17-kill performance in Saturday's 3-0 win over Davidson. The victory gave the Rams the outright A-10 regular season title. She added three blocks and three digs in that contest, while hitting .600.
It's the first A-10 honor of the season for Tuzzolo, who is averaging 2.38 kills and 0.93 blocks per set this season. She's hitting .234 and has also served up 22 aces for the Rams (18-8, 13-1 A-10).
Tuzzolo and the Rams, the No. 1 overall seed, will prepare to host the 2018 A-10 Championship Nov. 16-18 at the E.J. Wade Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. VCU has received a bye to the semifinal round, where it will face either George Mason or Saint Louis Saturday at 2 p.m.
