RICHMOND, Va. – Junior middle blocker Tori Baldwin (Liberty, N.C.) has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, one day after she helped lift VCU to its biggest win of the season.
Baldwin averaged 2.38 blocks and 1.62 kills per set as VCU defeated Saint Louis and Dayton over the weekend. The 6-foot-3 Baldwin recorded 10 blocks and six kills in the Rams' triumph over Dayton Sunday, the Flyers' first defeat at the hands of an Atlantic 10 opponent since 2014.
This season, Baldwin is averaging a league-high 1.57 blocks per set for the Rams, who own the nation's second-best blocking unit.
Baldwin is one reason VCU owns the nation's longest active win streak at 22 matches. The Rams (25-2) return to action on Friday, Nov. 3 when they take on La Salle in Philadelphia, Pa.
