NO STRANGER TO AWARDS, RAM WINS DEFENSIVE HONOR

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU senior libero Rebekah Strange is certainly no stranger to awards. For the second time in three weeks, the Avon, Ind. native has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.

The 5-foot-10 Strange earned the honor after she averaged 5.33 digs per set in a pair of road victories. Strange produced 23 of her digs in just three sets in a win over Rhode Island on Sunday. In addition, she served up three aces and handed out nine assists last week.

Strange currently ranks third in the A-10 in digs per set (4.66) and is second in that category in conference matches (4.67).

Behind Strange and a dominant blocking attack, VCU ranks second nationally in opponent hitting percentage (.125).

The Rams own the nation's longest active win streak at 20 and are 23-2 overall and 9-0 in A-10 play. VCU welcomes Saint Louis and Dayton this weekend in a pair of matches that could decide the A-10 regular season title.
