The short story: Sophomore Vicky Giommarini blasted 13 kills as VCU kept rolling in a 3-0 win over Davidson Saturday. VCU has won 13 straight matches.

OPENING VOLLEY

  • A sophomore outside hitter, Giommarini hit .273 and added six digs and a service ace to the VCU effort.
  • Junior middle Tori Baldwin led another stout VCU blocking effort. The 6-foot-3 North Carolina native racked up eight blocks on the evening. Sophomore outside Gina Tuzzolo added six blocks and six kills.
  • Senior outside Alica Kandler kicked in six kills and hit .316 for the Rams.
  • On the back row, senior libero Rebekah Strange added to Davidson's frustration with 18 digs.
  • Katherine Franz hit .417 with five kills to lead Davidson.

THE DIFFERENCE

  • VCU outhit Davidson .213 to -.019.
  • Five VCU players recorded at least three blocks.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • VCU held Davidson to just 23 kills all night. The Wildcats hit -.019.
  • The Rams' blocking superiority was evident throughout. VCU limited the Wildcats to a hitting percentage of .021 or worse in all three sets.
