KANDLER, BALDWIN REWARDED BY A-10

RICHMOND, Va. – As the wins pile up, so do the awards.

VCU extended its win streak to 12 with a pair of victories this weekend. For their efforts in those wins, senior outside hitter Alica Kandler (Olfen, Germany) and junior middle blocker Tori Baldwin (Liberty, N.C.) were named Atlantic 10 Co-Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. VCU (15-2, 2-0 A-10) has earned at least one Atlantic 10 honor every week this season.

Kandler spiked up 22 kills and hit .365 in sweeps over Rhode Island and Fordham this past weekend. She averaged 3.67 kills, 1.67 digs and 0.67 blocks per set. Kandler is averaging a team-best 2.83 kills per set this season.

For Baldwin, it's her third A-10 weekly award of the year, including her second Defensive Player honor. The 6-foot-3 middle averaged 1.83 kills per set in two matches over the weekend. She also hit .417 and provided seven kills in Sunday's defeat of Fordham.

Kandler and Baldwin will lead the Rams back into action on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Davidson at 6 p.m.
