TALKING POINTS
  • Sophomore Romana Kriskova spiked a match-high 14 kills and VCU defeated East Tennessee State for the second time in five days.
  • The Rams also topped the Buccaneers 3-2 on Sept. 7 at the Kentucky Classic. Thursday's match did not have the same drama. The Rams hit .319 on the night and outblocked ETSU 9-3 on the way to their third sweep of the season.
  • Sophomores Uzoamaka Ibeh provided eight kills apiece for VCU, while freshman Nora Reed added seven kills, six blocks and hit .636. Sophomore middle blocker Janelle Sykes registered a match-high seven blocks for the Rams and junior setter Cecilia Aragao managed the offense to the tune of 32 assists.
  • The Rams hit .583 in the final set, booking 17 kills with only three hitting errors.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • In two matches against East Tennessee State this season, Kriskova is averaging 5.12 kills per set and is hitting .403. The Rams hit .290 in two wins over the Buccaneers this season.
  • VCU is now 3-4 all-time against East Tennessee State.
