RICHMOND, Va. – The weekend is over, but the VCU Volleyball team hasn't stopped winning. Junior Cecilia Aragao kept the ball rolling Tuesday, when she was named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.

A 5-foot-11 setter, Aragao was one of the catalysts behind the Rams' 3-0 performance at the IUPUI Invitational in Indianapolis on Friday and Saturday. Defensively, she was superb. In three matches, Aragao averaged 3.00 digs and1.67 blocks per set. The Recife, Brazil native posted double-doubles (assists-digs) in all three victories, including a 46-assist, 13-dig, 7-block effort in a five-set triumph over host IUPUI.
In addition to contributions on the defensive side of the ball, Aragao also averaged 9.08 assists and 1.00 kills per set and hit .290.
For her efforts, Aragao was named to the IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational All-Tournament Team, her fifth career All-Tournament citation.
Aragao and company will be back in action Sept. 6-7 at the Kentucky Classic in Lexington, Ky., where they'll battle Kentucky, Liberty and East Tennessee State.
