RICHMOND, Va.- The Virginia Commonwealth University Athletic Department announced that the contract of Volleyball Head Coach James Finley will not be renewed for next season.

"Our program needs a different direction and different leadership to attain our goals of achieving at an elite level nationally," VCU Director of Athletics Ed McLaughlin said. "I thank Coach Finley and his staff for their service to VCU Athletics and I wish them all the best in their future endeavors."

Finley spent the past eight years on the Black & Gold sidelines, compiling a mark of 151-116. The Rams reached the conference championship match four times during his tenure.

Prior to his time at VCU, Finley spent four years as the head coach at Arizona Western Junior College, where he posted a 137-37 mark.

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
