TALKING POINTS
  • Xavier halted VCU's school-record 13-match home win streak and nine-match win streak overall with a 3-0 decision Friday.
  • The Rams missed out on an opportunity to pull ahead of Xavier and take over sole possession of second place in the A-10. VCU slipped to a game behind the Musketeers with two league matches to play.
  • The Musketeers held the Rams to a .094 hitting percentage, their worst since a loss to South Florida on Sept. 1.
  • The Rams could not contain Xavier outside hitter Ame White, who led all players with 13 kills and hit .571. She committed one hitting error in 21 attempts.
  • VCU freshman Romana Kriskova spiked 10 kills and added 11 digs and five blocks to pace the Rams.
  • Freshman middle blocker Martina Samadan finished with seven kills and five blocks for VCU, which out blocked Xavier 10-7.
  • VCU led the first set 22-21, but Xavier regrouped after a timeout and scored the final four points of frame to earn the win. The Rams never recovered.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • With seven blocks Friday, Samadan (153) moved with five of the VCU single-season record currently held by teammate Jasmine Waters and Kelsie Clegg (157).
  • VCU had won 13 straight at home dating back to last season. The Rams were 9-0 at the Siegel Center this year prior to Friday's loss.
  • The Rams' loss was just their second via the sweep all year. South Florida also swept the Rams on Sept. 1. VCU had won 27 of its last 28 sets prior to Friday.
