RAMS MATCH VICTORY TOTAL FROM 2011 WITH 3-0 SWEEP

THE LEAD
  • VCU, playing in its final non-conference contest of the season, matched its victory total from 2011 with a 3-0 victory. The Rams were 17-17 last year.
  • The Rams hit .319 in the match, including a .636 hitting percentage from senior Jasmine Waters. Waters finished with eight kills and three blocks.
  • Senior Kristin Boyd led a balanced VCU attack with nine kills. Freshman Romana Kriskova added eight kills and three aces.
  • Sophomore setter Cecilia Aragao directed the VCU offense with 33 assists and added nine digs and two aces.
  • Freshman middle Martina Samadan provided seven kills, four blocks and hit .400.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • VCU hit better than .200 for the sixth straight match and topped .300 for the fifth time this year.
  • The Rams earned their seventh victory via sweep. VCU has won its last nine sets.
  •  Samadan is hitting .357 and averaging 1.47 blocks per set through 20 matches this season. Both marks are on pace to set school records.
  • VCU is 14-1 in non-conference matches and 7-2 on the road this season.
  • Boyd needs 12 kills to move into sole possession of second place on VCU's career list.
