The Short Story: VCU's Women's Track & Field Team continued their 2019 Outdoor season with a solid all-around showing at the UNF Invitational. Overall, the Rams had seven athletes place in the top-five of their respective events.

How It Happened

  • Senior Camora Sanders won the Discuss Throw after recording a toss of 76.41m. Her mar was nearly 25 meters further than the second place finisher.
  • Sophomore Aliyah Newman earned a first place finish in the Triple Jump, recording a leap of 12.33m.
  • VCU's 4x400m Relay Team earned a second place finish after finishing with a time of 3:45.22.
  • Freshman Kayla Merkel placed second in the Javelin Throw, posting a toss of 44.11m.
  • Sanders also placed second in the Shot Put, recording a throw of 14.61m.
  • Junior Kayla Smith posted a second place finish in the 400m Dash, finishing with a time of 53.27.
  • Senior Ann Sheehy earned a fifth place finish in the 400m Hurdles, posting a time of 1:03.32.

The Rams will be back in action on Saturday, April 13, when they travel to Fairfax, Va. to compete in the George Mason Spring Invitational.
