VCU PLACES FOURTH IN NEW YORK AT TOWSON TIGER INVITE

The Short Story: VCU took on the Towson Tiger Invite Friday night at the New York City Armory. The women's team placed fourth in a field of 14 schools. Sophomore Janelle Cheatham lead the Rams in another successful night of field events, winning the long jump.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Cheatham shined in the long jump with a distance of 5.50 meters, good enough to win the event. Cheatham was joined by fellow sophomore Khoi Banks who took third place.
  • Junior Latrice Morris took third in the 60-meter dash after recording a time of 7.64. In the hurdles, senior Olivia Coopwood claimed fourth with a season best 8.96.
  • Ashley Greenlee ran the 400-meter in 59.01, earning herself a fifth place finish as well as VCU's best time in that event this season.
  • Judith White took sixth place points in the 1,000-meter, running the race in 3:07.69.
  • In the weight throw, senior Ashleigh Banks placed third with a mark of 16.47 meters.

 UP NEXT

The Rams head west to Lexington, Va. for the Keydet Invitational hosted by VMI. The invitational is VCU's first two-day meet of the season spanning Jan. 19 and 20.
