SCOTT, WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD HONORED FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

RICHMOND, Va. – Nichelle Scott (Chesterfield, Va./L.C. Bird) and her VCU Women's Track & Field teammates are used to leading. But this time, Scott and the Rams are being honored for leading off the track instead of on it.

Scott, a rising senior, has been selected as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual, while the VCU Women's Track & Field squad earned distinction as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.

The Atlantic 10 Conference indoor champion and outdoor runner-up in the 800-meter run in 2016-17, Scott received the award by compiling a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.25 or greater and qualifying for the NCAA East Regional. A native of Chesterfield, Virginia, Scott set school records both indoors and outdoors in the 800 this year. She was also named to the A-10 All-Academic Team and is majoring in chemical engineering.

VCU, which captured the 2017 A-10 indoor team championship, was named an All-Academic squad by virtue of its combined GPA of 3.25.
