RICHMOND, Va. – Five o'clock in the morning on any Saturday
is a highly unlikely time to see any college students getting out
of bed, in fact some of them may just be climbing into bed at that
time.
Not the VCU Track & Field teams as representatives from both the men's and women's teams pitched in to help with the SunTrust Richmond Marathon this past weekend.
Members of the Rams worked at various bag check stations and help in the registration portion of the event beginning at 6 a.m. this past Saturday, with many of them having a wake-up call at around 5 a.m.
This is the second straight year that the Black & Gold have lent a helping hand in one of the city's most prestigious events.
The SunTrust Richmond Marathon is in its 34th year and begins with an eight-kilometer race then the half marathon before wrapping up with all 26.2 miles of the full marathon, which has been named as one of the 12 "most-do marathons" by Runner's World.
