BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Athletes have to be battle tested when they compete against some of the nation's best athletes. To say senior Quina Fortune is battle tested is quite an understatement (check her story out here).

Fortune, once again, showed that toughness en route to earning a spot in the NCAA Quarterfinals in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.89 in first round action at the Indiana University on Friday evening.

The top-24 times advanced to Saturday's quarterfinal, where the top-12 will advance to NCAA Championships.

"Like it has been all year, the weather wasn't the best, so Quina's time wasn't the best of the year, but she did what she needed to in order to advance," Head Coach Jon Riley said. "I know that she'll come back tomorrow more focused then ever and have a great chance of reaching nationals."

The New Orleans, La. native entered the East Preliminary Round ranked in the top-15 with a time of 23.33 earlier this year. Her time of 23.89 on Friday placed her 22nd out of 48.

Fortune will take the blocks in the quarterfinals on Saturday night at 7:35 p.m.
