RAMS DOMINATE EAST TENNESSEE STATE, 6-1

The Basics

  • Score: VCU 6, East Tennessee State 1
  • Records: VCU (4-5), ETSU (3-7)
  • Location: Thalhimer Tennis Center inside the HDL, Inc. Athletic Village – Richmond, Va.
  • The Short Story: Five different Rams scored straight set victories as the VCU women's tennis team took down visiting East Tennessee State in dominating fashion, 6-1.  In the five singles victories, VCU lost a total of 13 games.
How It Happened
  • The upperclassmen duo of Salome Kvitashvili and Olga Terteac took home the first victory of the day with an 8-1 win at #3 doubles. Senior Daria Yakauleva (pictured, main) and sophomore Olga Barscheuskaya (pictured, right) finished off the doubles point with an 8-4 win at #2 doubles to give VCU a 1-0 advantage.
  • Yakauleva extended that lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sofia Espana at #3 singles.
  • Barscheuskaya quickly followed suit with a 6-0, 6-0 win of her own at #5 singles to make it 3-0.
  • Sophomore Yukako Noi sealed the win for the Rams with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Giulia Andreazza at #2 singles.
  • Senior Cindy Chala continued her impressive spring season with a 6-3, 6-1 win at #1 singles. Chala is now 8-1 this spring.
  • Wrapping up the points on the day for VCU was Terteac, who scored a 6-2, 6-4 win at #6 singles.
