INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Even though she's only been in Richmond for a couple months, sophomore Cindy Chala has made an immediate impact on the VCU women's tennis team.

Not only did she help lead the Rams to the Atlantic 10 Championship, but the St. Cloud, France native is now headed to the NCAA Singles Tournament, conducted May22-27 in Urbana, Ill., hosted by the University of Illinois.

After earning A-10 Most Outstanding Player a few weeks ago, Chala earned the conference's automatic berth into the singles bracket.

This spring, Chala anchored the top spot in the VCU's singles lineup, posting a 14-4 ledger and a top-75 ranking by the ITA. All four of her losses came to players ranked in the top-30 in the country.

Singles draws will be announced later this month.
