  • The Short Story: The VCU Women's Tennis team celebrated Easter Sunday with its seventh straight win, a decisive 4-1 road victory over Marshall. Five of the Rams' seven wins during the streak have come away from home. Freshman Yukako Noi (pictured, main), along with sophomores Cindy Chala (pictured, bottom right) and Salome Kvitashvili (pictured, top right), picked up straight set single victories to go along with a doubles sweep for the Black & Gold.

How It Happened

  • Kvitashvili and junior Olga Terteac got things started for VCU by easing their way to an 8-2 victory at the third doubles spot, which was followed by freshman Olga Barscheuskaya and junior Daria Yakauleva, who wrapped up the doubles point for the Rams with an 8-6 win at the top doubles position.
  • Kvitashvili kept things going for the Rams with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Kai Broomfield at the fourth singles spot.
  • Noi followed with a 7-5, 6-2 win at the second singles spot and Chala wrapped up the victory for the Black & Gold with a hard-fought, 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) win at the top spot in the singles lineup.
