RICHMOND, Va. - The VCU women's tennis team reached the NCAA Tournament yet again last year and junior Alex Bara was a big reason why, giving the Rams a reliable option in the middle of the lineup.
Before Bara and her teammates headed into the winter offseason, she sat down with VCU Athletic Communications Student Assistant Nan Turner to tell us a little more about her life off the tennis court.
NT: Why did you choose VCU and what is your favorite thing about it?
AB: Because my sister decided to come here, and I like the fact that it is very diverse in terms of people.
NT: What is the biggest difference between Richmond and your hometown of Oradea, Romania?
AB: Well Oradea is the best town in the world!!!
NT: What is the best advice you've ever been given?
AB: "...well, do something about it!"
NT: What player do you try to model your game after the most and why?
AB: Justine Henin, because she plays very smart.
NT: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
AB: On the 101st floor of a building in Manhattan, overlooking the rest of the world.
NT: What is a typical day off the court like for you?
AB: Wake up at 11, watch TV, dinner with friends, movies etc.
NT: Favorite memory playing tennis at VCU?
AB: Winning the CAA's against William and Mary last season.
NT: If you could trade places with one person, who would it be and why?
AB: My coach Yana, so I can boss people around.
