RICHMOND, Va. – The United Soccer Coaches released their selections for the 2018 All-East Region Teams on Monday. VCU Women's Soccer was honored by having three players selected to one of the All-Region teams.

Freshman defender Lana Golob was selected to the United Soccer Coaches Second Team, while sophomore midfielder Samantha Jerabek and junior midfielder Alyssa Tallent were each selected to the Third Team. This is the first time since 2012 that a VCU player was named to an All-East Region Team.

"I am extremely pleased to see the recognition that Lana, Samantha and Alyssa received with the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team selections. I feel their efforts and play this season warranted this accomplishment and I am really happy for them. Our success this season came from a full team effort, but there three student-athletes certainly were a huge part of our collective success. And the best news is they are all returning to us next year, so the future is very bright," said head coach Lindsey Martin.

Jerabek, a native of Chesterfield, Va., flourished in her second year with the Rams, setting career-highs in multiple categories. In 20 games this season, she led VCU in shots (72), shots on goal (33), goals (11), game-winning goals (4), assists (7) and points (29). In addition, she ranked in the top five of the Atlantic 10 in each of those categories. She was also named to the Atlantic 10 First Team for her play this season.

Tallent, a veteran of 50 games including 35 starts, was in the midst of her best season as a Ram before suffering a season-ending injury. In just 12 games this season, she set career highs in shots (28), shots on goal (9), goals (4) and assists (5). She also finished in the top 20 in the A-10 in points with 13 which set a career-high as well. Tallent scored her lone game-winning goal this year in her final match of the season, a 3-1 win over Davidson. Her play this season earned her a spot on the Atlantic 10 Second Team as well.

Golob, who has gained valuable experience while playing with and starting for the Slovenian Women's U19 and U17 National Teams, anchored the Rams backline this season. Starting 17 games for VCU, Golob helped the Rams post seven shutouts. Golob was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team as well as All-Rookie Team.

VCU finished the season with an overall record of 16-4, which set a new program record, and made their second consecutive appearance to the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Match.
