RAMS EARN UNITED SOCCER COACHES ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM AWARD

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU's Women's Soccer team was named as an All-Academic Team Award winner by United Soccer Coaches on Thursday. The Rams made the list after the 2017-18 academic year in which they compiled a 3.59 overall GPA.

Overall, the Rams earned the honor for the eighth consecutive year, a streak stretching back to 2011. VCU has been named as an All-Academic team each of their six seasons under head coach Lindsey Martin and an impressive 14 times overall since 1999.

College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster.

The Rams are also one of just 191 teams nationwide to have both their men's and women's soccer teams earn the distinction.

The Rams are also off to a strong start on the field, putting together a 10-2 record with an undefeated 5-0 record in conference play. They will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 7, for a match with Saint Joseph's.
