RICHMOND, Va. – The VCU Women's Soccer team continued to garner postseason recognition on Wednesday as junior Courtney Conrad and senior Wendy Acosta received Virginia Sports Information Directors All-State honors.
Conrad was named First Team All-State after leading the Rams in goals (11), points (23) and game-winning goals (five). The Dartmouth, Nova Scotia native had already been named First Team All-Atlantic 10 and to the NSCAA's Third Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region.
Acosta, who garnered Second Team All-State honors, scored nine goals and finished the year with 19 points, while converting all three of her penalty kicks. The San Jose, Costa Rica native, who was playing in her first collegiate season, was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and to the A-10 All-Rookie squad.
VaSID awards are nominated and voted on by Sports Information Directors throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
VCU posted 12 victories this season, which are the most during the Sahaydak's six-year tenure. The Rams also advanced to the conference championship match for the second straight season.
