BOUCHARD EARNS FIRST-TEAM ALL REGION ACCOLADES FROM NSCAA

RICHMOND, Va. – A month ago senior Myriam Bouchard impressed teammates and fans when she was named the Colonial Athletic Association Defender of the Year, as well as earning All-CAA First-Team accolades.

This month, the Quebec City, Canada native is doing it again.

Bouchard was selected to the First-Team of the 2010 NSCAA Division I Women All-Mid-Atlantic Region. After four seasons at VCU, to those who have worked with Bouchard the credit is not unexpected.

"We're so happy for Myriam and these honors that she really deserved," Co-Head Coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. "Not only is she incredibly talented, but she brought a work ethic and a dedication to our program that will leave a lasting impression for years to come, not only on the players, but also on our coaching staff."

The talented defender joined the Rams in 2006 and helped them post back-to-back 11 win seasons and participate in two tries in the CAA Tournament.

In 2008 she redshirted so that she would be eligible to compete, and serve as the captain, on Canada's U-20 Women's National Team at the U-20 World Cup in Germany.

In her 78 career games played with the Rams, the opposition was shutout 32 times (41%). On top of that the same opposition was held to one goal or less 56 of those 78 games (72%).

With stats like these, it is easy to see the impact Bouchard has made on the sport as a whole since she came to town.

"Myriam was the leader of this defense since we got here," Roberts Sahaydak said. "She always had the responsibility of marking the opponent's best player and was always successful with that responsibility. Our back line has been the strength of this team for several years and she's a big reason why."
