RICHMOND, Va. – Throughout our lives we are told the only guarantees in life are "death and taxes."

That's not exactly true as a shutout in the annual VCU-Richmond women's soccer showdown has pretty much become a guarantee over the past five years.

"This game is big every year and we know it's going to be a battle," Senior Myriam Bouchard said. "We play with these girls year around and see them a lot. We know we're going to have bring our best effort in order to bring home a win."

Overall the Spiders hold a 7-5-2 record against the Black & Gold, but the Rams have made headway over in recent years with a 3-1-1 mark over the past five years.

In those five contests, a total of five goals were scored between the two teams with VCU pitching a shutout in four of those five games, while Richmond blanked the Rams in 2008.

The Rams will look towards youngsters Bex Kunz and Bre White to ignite the offense as the duo has combined for seven of VCU's 10 goals on the season. Kunz is the reigning CAA Rookie of the Week after her two-goal, one-assist performance against Liberty last Friday.

Game time at Ukrop's Park is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday.
