RICHMOND – The VCU Women’s Lacrosse program has done their job in the classroom, as the squad was named to the 2017 IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Squad list.
The IWLCA listed 308 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA as IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads for the 2016-17 academic year. To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women’s lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year. The Rams did just that, posting a 3.266 mark for the year.
"We are so proud of our Rams academic achievements again this year,” said Head Coach Jen O’Brien. Our team works exceptionally hard to balance both their athletic and academic requirements and takes pride in doing so. Our academic support staff is a huge piece of our team's success and we are appreciative of all they do for our student-athletes."
This is the first year VCU has won the award, becoming one of 92 Division I teams to make the list.
