RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University junior forward Courtney Hurt received her second straight Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week honor on Monday after leading the Rams to a 79-69 victory against Longwood over the weekend.
Hurt scored 25 of her game-high 31 points in the second half to help VCU erase a six-point halftime deficit and pick up its second win in three games. She also collected 16 rebounds to go along three steals and an assist, while shooting a season-high tying 13 of 16 from the free throw line.
The Conyers, Ga., native has posted a double-double of at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in all eight games this season. She currently leads the nation in rebounding (13.4 rpg) and ranks second in both scoring and double-doubles. Her 25.5 points per game is 0.5 ppg behind the NCAA's leading scorer Elena Delle Donne of Delaware.
Hurt and the Rams are back at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 21 against in-state foe Liberty. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
