RICHMOND, Va. – Freshman Bryce Catlett was named Virginia Lottery Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance on the trail this past weekend at the JMU Invitational. Catlett placed ninth out of 35 competitors and posted a time 27:15.1 on a 7,900-meter course.

The freshman from Manassas has been the top finisher in the Rams' first two events this season. Last week at the Spider Alumni Open, he finished 19th and clocked 15:48.5 in the 5,000-meter run. 

Favorite place to run: "Back home I like to run at Manassas National Battlefield, but for competition I think Panorama Farms in Charlottesville is a great location.
Favorite Running Song: "I actually don't have one. When I'm not running with my teammates and talking to them, I like to run and just take the sounds of nature in."
Favorite Meal: "Spaghetti with meat sauce. I have so many boxes of pasta in my pantry."
Best road trip: "As a family, we drove to Florida a lot to visit the beaches and Disney World. Those were fun trips I with great memories." 
Favorite social media platform: Twitter. "It allows me to keep up with my favorite baseball team, the [Washington] Nationals."
Favorite athlete: "Ryan Zimmerman with the Nationals."
How would people describe you: "I like to stay on top of things, so I think people would describe me as organized, proactive, and hard working."
Dream job: "I would like to work in business, hopefully in a sport environment, maybe for a company like Nike."
Goals for time at VCU: "Looking to study business management with a focus on sports, and maybe go from here and get a master's in a sport-related field. I'm looking at maybe applying for the Center for Sport Leadership here at VCU."
Favorite thing about running for VCU: "The coaching staff, the gear, and the athletic training resources. It's really nice to have a place to come and recover when I need it."
