FRESHMEN SHINE FOR RAMS IN SEASON-OPENER

The short story: Freshmen Bryce Catlett and Lucas Sidle made impressive debuts for VCU in the season-opening Spider Alumni Open. VCU placed fifth overall.

THE FINISH LINE
  • Catlett, running in his first career race as a Ram, clocked 15:48.5 to place 19th in the field. A native of Manassas, Catlett won seven conference titles during his career at Osburn Park High School.
  • Sidle followed Catlett to the line in 32nd place in 16:09.8.
  • VCU's third-through-sixth finishers, Calvin Wood, Bismillah Alidost, Brandon Wells, and Michael Villagomez, placed 39th, 41st, 42nd and 43rd, respectively. They were separated by just seven seconds.  
  • VCU's top five posted an average time of 16:15.98.
